Eisenhower Matrix, a therapeutic tool
You must have come across Eisenhower Matrix till now.
If you are like most people, you might be wondering is there any obvious relationship between task prioritization and well-being? Given our set of jobs may be heterogeneous, some urgent and some insignificant. Depending on the job we run, our stress levels vary from task to task. An important and urgent task might suck us dry increasing stress levels momentarily and if not regulated, may get chronic. After all, a prior task drains brain of energy and vigor. Our brains constituting 2% percent of body mass on average consume 20% of total energy. Physiologically, blood glucose levels soar high. From stress perspective, urgency of a task determines how salient it is to our brain. And thanks to fight or flight response, we later feel drained after spikes of sugar in our blood flow. Blood sugar spikes lead to further aging. I'll leave this question for you to answer: which quadrant of Eisenhower matrix causes the most stress? And how our job distribution guides us in planning for stress and put de-stressing routines in place? Ultimately we'd need to learn how to calm one selves down.
