Confronting thoughts
In our day to day routine affairs most of us are required to draw inferences, form conclusions and arrive at good decisions. How often do we validate our thinking, and more, how do we explore the full ambit of ideas in order to problem solve and seek feedback. How inclined are we to put spotlight on perspectives recurring in one form or the other. How do we feel when a co-worker contests our ideas and theorizes in an another way that may seem to oppose us? How often do we resort to integrated thinking? How often do we scoop out our beliefs that are the corner stone of our perspectives? How often we look at each others precepts critically?
Chris Argyris' ladder of inference is a great tool meant for exactly this purpose. Our repertoire of stress-relief practices may include reflective thinking and this practice can fit easily in your daily schedule.
